Other things I'm doing

Just some things I haave been working on. The first picture is a class I took today, paper piecing. There is a mini hanging for each month. I have the patterns and the towel holder to hang them from, I guess I am committed now.

The second picture is the little tie I made for Trevin for Valentine's Day. I have a white shirt cut out, and will probably buy pants. I will run out of time to dew the pants.

The last picture is a Family frame my brother gave me for Christmas. It holds 4x6 pictures. I was hard to choose the pictures for it, but finally did. It is not on the wall yet, as I have to do some rearranging. But it will be up soon, so I can get it out of the way in the living room! There are pictures of my cute grandkids and other family members. I will have to switch out the pictures as I get new cute ones.

Valentine Bees

Sorry that last picture is sideways! I got tired of waiting for the craft blog lady to post the tutorial for the bees, so I just did them the way I thought they looked good. I like them! I hope you girls do, there is one for each of you. I hope she continues to post 'block-heads' for the rest of the year. I have had fun with them.

Valentine Table Topper (wall hanging)

I just finished the Valentine Table topper, which I will use this year as a wall hanging in my kitchen. I think it looks cute. Thanks, Amy, for the idea to do this topper. I hope you get yours done soon.

More kitchen decor

These pictures are for Amy. I just wanted you to see the other decor items I did for the kitchen. The cans were just the plain rusty tin, so I painted them red, then antiqued them a bit. I have pens in one, paper in the other. The chain of stars is the two chains put together (I bought you a larger chain to add to your smaller one.) The quilt hanger looks cute, I bought a star from Rod Works to hang it from, Dad was nice to attach it to the wall for me, nice and sturdy. I painted regular clothes pins black, then brushed red paint over, then sanded the edges and covered them with matte varnish. They should hold up the hangings I want to put up. That is where I will put my Valentine topper, whenever I get it done!

Vinyl projects

I went to Andrea's house today for her birthday, and she helped me do the vinyl for these projects. I had time between things to get the blocks ready, and Mark helped to sand the blocks. I did 4 sets of the blocks, so you girls each get a set. I hope you like them. The white plate is a plastic plate from Target ($2) that I bought Monday. I think it is cute. VERY easy. I am glad we got the silhouette machine!

I know it is a bit past Christmas, but I wanted to post my Nativity set. I love how it turned out. In this picture the star is crooked, but I fixed it before I put it away for the year. I found the pattern here: http://undermypolkadotumbrella.blogspot.com/2009/09/nativity-patterns.html

Wooden Frame

I bought this frame from the craft store a few months ago, and I finally got around to painting it. It's very simple, but I really like it.

Crocheted tops

I have been having fun making tops for the girls and I. I found a cute free pattern that I used on my sweater and then I bought a pattern book by Leisure Arts called Topsy Turvy that has adorable girls sweaters. Here is my sweater and one of my daughter's sweaters. I didn't get a picture of the other one yet.

I am excited to try more patterns. For so many years I have made things for gifts for friends and my kiddos. I haven't made many things for myself. I am hoping to find many more cute adult patterns. I'll try to post a picture of the other sweater soon!

Vinyl

I am finally posting some of the things I have done with vinyl. I did the Chinese character love for our bedroom, and I put some flowers on the mirror in our room.

Here are the things I have done in the kids room so far:

Kitchen decorations

I bought a couple of berry garlands/stems on after-Christmas clearance, and pulled them apart and combined them for a long garland that goes across the cupboards over the stove and oven. The second picture is a wreath I bought (on sale) at JoAnn's and put it where the cookie plaque used to be. I thought the wreath matched perfectly, with the berries, the Americana colors, and the tin stars on it. I should take a picture of the tin cans I bought at Roberts and painted for my pencils and paper!

Now off to finish some mending and work more on Trevin's dino blocks, then on to Valentine's Day decor. I downloaded, with Amy's help (long distance) some images for the Silhouette. I can hardly wait to make something with them!

New things at My House

I decided to show some new things at my house. First, Mark got my new stovetop installed yesterday. Doesn't it look good? Now I just need to cook something on it.

The quilt is a table topper that Amy and I are making "together" long distance. We are using the same pattern, different fabrics. Mine is ready to quilt, I have drawn hearts on it to be a guide for the machine quilting. I am excited to get it done, it will be the first quilt to hang on my new star quilt hanger for my kitchen wall. It is cute, I should have taken a picture of it. I guess it will have to wait till I have the quilt finished to put on it. I couldn't decide how to hang the quilts on the hanger, not having quilt sleeves on the back of my quilts. After seeing Meg hang sheets on her lphotography backdrop yesterday with clothes pins, I decided to see if they fit over the hanger, and they do. I have a couple of old clothespins that I plan to paint red and antique. I think it will work, I'll have to see!

Aren't this little penguins darling? I actually made 4, but I put mine up on a shelf already. They were pretty quick to make, once my kind husband cut the wood for me. There is a crafter who is sharing these ideas on her blog, hopefully one for each month of the year. February's is a bee, I have the wood cut and ready to paint! Amy, Andrea, and Meg, I hope you like them. You get yours next time I see you!

Tutus and headband

Lexi had a little dance performance in the beginning of December and their outfits were red and white tutu's. I had some extra stuff from making her tutu, so made one for her teddy bear and one of her dolls. I also made her a new flower headband.

She loved the tutus and headband and she looked so cute while she danced!

Batman Hat

Andrea made the cutest Batman hat for Brecken for his birthday. I don't think she got a picture of it, so I'm posting it for her :) It turned out so cute and he loves to wear it!

Boy and Girl Quilts

These are the quilts I made for the kids for Christmas this year. I bought the panel for Brecken's when he was a baby and hadn't done anything with it yet, and then I found the panel for Lexi's this summer. I was excited that I found both a girl one and a boy one.

Pirate Shirt

Here is the shirt I made for Brecken with fabric markers. Jeremy helped me design the ship, then I traced it onto the shirt with a black marker.
