Holiday projects

When I saw these metallic purple chargers at Michael's, I thought they were 'screaming' for vinyl for Halloween. The bat is actually orange and black, not yellow like it looks. I really need to get Meg to do my photos for posts. Anyway, after I put on the vinyl, it looked a bit plain, so I used a light mist of gold glitter spraypaint, and I love it!

Amy saw bats something like these on a craft blog, so we made them while Meg and I were in Vegas with Amy. We had a cutting party here the Friday before we went to Vegas, with me cutting, Amy sanding, and Meg keeping the kids happy. The bats have scrapbook paper on them, and fuzzy yarn is tied around the dowels. Three done in Vegas, one more to finish so we each have one.

The tree and snowman were also on craft blogs, but we did our own thing. We nearly finished 4 of each of these, just had to put on the finishing touches when I got home. I need to get a bigger house for all the decorations we are making! There were some other things we did when we were together, such as t-shirt painting and glass etching, using the Silhouette for templates. Amy or Meg need to post what they finished. Always another project to do, and something to post here.

Another project done

I would like to do a hanging for each month to hang from my star quilt hanger in my kitchen. I won't get all done this year, but I like this one for summer. It is longer than it shows. I will just keep doing one here and there, and soon I will have 12 or more to rotate through the year.

Amy was recently here, and then Meg and I went to Vegas. We did finish some projects, and nearly finished some others. Soon we will get them posted. A few wood projects, and some new uses for the Silhouette cutter.

Recent projects

Recently (late July/early August) I finished a few projects that I wanted to get done. The first is a decoration for my kitchen. The top metal stars were clearance at JoAnn. The back star was light blue. I painted it, specked both with red, blue and cream, then added the berries. The bottom plaques Meg picked up for me at Honk's on an 88c day. Mark drilled holes so I could fasten them together with wire. Not bad for just a bit of time and probably less than $8.

I know this is blurry, but I am too lazy to take another picture. Mark cut the wood last year when AMy was here, and I like how hers turned out, so I finally finished them. Just spray painted (Andrea and Meg painted them for me-thanks!). The little lanterns are from IKEA- just a few dollars for those. Another inexpensive project.

Amy and I decided to do these back in June, and I just finished mine. Of course, it is going in my kitchen for year 'round decor. Just 2x4's, some ribbon and paint, and a scrapbook paper star.

This is the quilt I made for Trevin for his 1st birthday. I loved the dino fabric, nice and bright, and I found coordinating fabric from Connecting Threads. I hope he likes it. I have it to him, and he seemed to like it.

Flowers and Cake

I was just looking through some pictures trying to get together some flower pictures to show a potential client tonight. I ran into some I had forgotten about, some of my favorites and Megan's wedding cake which I had completely forgotten about. I LOVE her cake! Didn't know how much I liked it until I saw the picture again. Anyway, here is a picture of Megan's cake and some flowers I have done.

AMERICA Blocks

We saw blocks similar to these, and decided to try them. I found some papers, buttons, ribbon, etc. and Mark cut the blocks. Meg helped me decide which papers to use, then I cut, glued, and stippled the edges. Then it was time to add the embellishments. Meg and I collaborated on that. Anyway, we finished 3 sets (Amy is doing her own). Yay, another project finished!

I like fabric purses

I am really liking fabric purses. It is fun to make a purse in the colors and fabrics I like, and they are less expensive than buying a new purse. I can afford to have a few to choose from. I like how this one went together, using fusible fleece as a stabilizer. It has two layers of mat board in a sleeve on the bottom to make the bottom solid. I am ready to try another pattern I bought by the same designer. I am having trouble finding the fusible fleece, though. JoAnn's is out, and I bought the last 1 1/3 yard that Hancock's has. I have enough to make one purse, so I want to get some more somewhere.

Wooden Flowerpots

We got the idea for these flowerpots on Craft Goodies blog. Another project that I have taken forever to finish. Amy is working on some ideas for summer 'blockheads', and hopefully we will have some finished ones to show soon. Also doing AMERICA blocks soon, I hope.
